Common questions

How is the score worked out?

Each food gets a score from 0 to 100 based on nutrients (such as sugar, salt and saturated fat), worrying additives and how processed it is, with positives like fiber and protein. The result screen lists every reason and links to its source. In Settings you can make sugar and salt count more, less, or not at all.

A product isn't found

Venes checks Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central and Kroger. If none of them has the product, tap Photograph label and Venes reads the Nutrition Facts and ingredients from your photos.

The information looks wrong

Product facts come from public databases and the label photos people take, so mistakes happen. Email us the barcode and what looks wrong. You can also correct a product directly on Open Food Facts, which helps everyone.

Can I rely on the allergen alerts?

They are a helpful reminder, not a guarantee: databases can be incomplete and recipes change. If you have an allergy, always read the package or ask the restaurant.

How accurate are meal photo estimates?

They are estimates and can be off by 20–40%, because oil, sauces and portion sizes are hard to see. If the dish was recognized wrongly, tap Not right? Tell us what it is on the result.

Which restaurants are included?

Chains that publish their nutrition information: currently Chick-fil-A, Chipotle and Panera Bread. More are on the way. Find nearest opens your maps app to show the closest location.

Why does Venes ask for my location?

Only to show grocery prices at stores near you. It's optional: you can enter a ZIP code instead, or turn prices off in Settings. See the privacy policy for details.

How do I delete my data?

Venes has no accounts, and your history and settings are stored only on your phone. Remove single entries by pressing and holding them in History, use Clear all, or delete the app to remove everything.

Venes is for general information only. It is not medical or dietary advice.
